How can we solve a problem, if we don’t KNOW the problem?
What happens to the average American’s weight as we age? It gets higher and higher and higher. That’s what typically happens, right? And when that starts happening, what’s the first thing I do? I try to eat less and exercise more. And if that doesn’t help. What do I do next? I try a different kind of exercise. I try a different kind of diet. I try the Mediterranean diet and the Dash and the Atkins and Weight Watchers. And I go through all those diets and I count calories and carbs, but still no results.
What if I still haven’t controlled those pounds? How does it make me feel? I would feel completely discouraged, very frustrated and might begin to feel like there was something wrong with me, wouldn’t I?
Has that happened to you? Or maybe one of your friends? I might start to think, you know, I’m just not doing it right. I’m not working at it hard enough. I’m not good enough. Maybe I just have to be like this forever.
I start to lose hope. And yet, logically, I would think surely there’s something that I can do about those pounds that keep creeping up and up and up. But all I know to do is change my diet and change my exercise.
What if there was something else that was missing? I think that’s what most people think. We try all these diets and that doesn’t affect the pounds. And we think I’m missing something, but we just don’t know what it is.
Well, today you’re going to learn something new and you’re going to be so glad that you invested some time in yourself.
So what if it’s not all those diets? What if that’s not the problem? What if it’s a hormone problem? So let’s come back to the cell and we’re going to talk about hormones. I’m going to take you back to high school biology just for a second.
Every cell in your body has two layers of fat on the outside and countless receptors for all of your hormones, all of your nutrients, all of your emotions. Do you know the hormone that tells your body to burn fat for fuel? It’s called Leptin.
You see, when your cells get inflamed, your hormones get burnt out and they can’t work anymore, kind of like when you’re talking on the cell phone and you lose the call. It’s not because your phone’s a piece of trash. The problem was the reception.
If your leptin receptor is burned out, your body may be screaming burn fat for fuel. You might test your leptin and it might be very, very high. But when the receptor is burnt out, the body can’t get the message. The body can’t burn fat for fuel because the receptor is burned out. And you see, that has nothing to do with all those diets.
It’s all about the cell, cellular health and hormones. We could apply this same scenario to any of your hormones and their receptors, but today we’re specifically talking about those pounds, especially because we’ve got swimsuit season coming up. But don’t we want to look good at all times of the year, not just swimsuit season?
Cellular inflammation could be the problem. Then the next question is what causes that cellular inflammation? In order to solve any problem we have to remove the CAUSE of the problem, right? To change our weight, we need to get the hormones working, which means we need to remove the cellular inflammation.
There are three causes of cellular inflammation:
Number one, sugars and grains. Grains turn to sugar in your body in about four seconds.
Number two, bad fats. Some of you may have already made all those changes because you’ve tried all those diets.
The missing piece of the puzzle? Number three: toxins. Toxins are the number one cause of the inflammation that causes hormone resistance, that prevents weight loss.
And I hope right now you feel like this huge weight, this burden has been lifted off your shoulders. Oh, my goodness. It’s not your fault. What failed is the diet. It wasn’t your fault. You were chasing after the wrong solution because you had the wrong definition of the problem.
It’s not a diet problem, the problem is hormone dysregulation and cellular inflammation.
