Is Meat Really Healthy?

Unfortunately all meat is not created equal and whether or not meat is good for you has to do with where the meat came from, how the animal was raised and what kinds of things the animal was fed. Those things end up in your body, so knowing where the meat comes from is one of the MOST IMPORTANT THINGS!

Most commercially raised animals are grain fed and injected with all sorts of horrible steroids and hormones and who knows what else! All of those things are ultimately toxic for your body.

Since the 1950s, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved a number of steroid hormone drugs for use in beef cattle and sheep, including estrogen, progesterone, testosterone. These drugs increase the animals’ growth rate and the efficiency by which they convert the feed they eat into meat.

Also, some of the approved drugs are synthetic hormones, such as trenbolone acetate and zeranol. When you put these synthetic hormones into your body you put your own natural hormone balance at risk and the hormone receptors in your cells can be affected as well. All of this can lead to cellular inflammation which causes many serious health conditions!

So who can you trust? Buy meat that is labeled grass fed from your local grocery store BUT be wary, beef producers can label their product ‘grass-fed,’ even if the animal is fed grain over the its’ lifetime. Of course we know grains are super toxic because they contain high levels of pesticides, so meat raised like this is not good! Don’t be afraid to ask!
