Tammy Stewart here at Health for a Purpose. I’ll tell you my confession… I’m not always perfect!
Are you like that with your diet, with your eating plan? Some people say they’re content with an 80/20. Eat healthy food 80 percent of the time, and then you can splurge 20 percent. I don’t aim for that; I do aim for perfection but I’m going to give you an example.
Today I really wanted a donut. But in reality, the last few times I ate a donut. I was really dissatisfied it didn’t taste as good as it used to…you know, like 15 years ago when we used to eat donuts once a week…it just didn’t taste as good!
When you feed your body nourishing food consistently, your body will start to crave nourishing food MORE, and the unhealthy foods will not taste as good. But anyway back to today … so, I was craving a donut and I didn’t want to go to the donut shop because it’s very unhealthy and it just wasn’t good the last time I got it.
So here’s a philosophy for you. Make substitutes. Any time you can substitute something better instead of something worse, you’re going to make progress right?
So I went to the health food store and let me show you what I got. I got these gluten free donuts. Now typically gluten free foods are NOT healthy and I’m going to show you why. Remember this is my confession. This is a substitute! It was better than the donut shop.
So…wow! Sugar lots of sugar. That’s not good! Flour … starch. Those fats are acceptable; palm oil is a very healthy fat. That’s one of the really big things I almost never compromise on fat. If this had canola oil in it I would not have purchased it.
