Almond Flour Pie Crust – Sweet or Savory!
March 14th is Pi Day! Who doesn’t love a reason to celebrate pie?
Pie can be enjoyed sweet or savory, double-crusted or crustless. The possibilities are endless!
If you’re in the mood for pie, we have an almond flour crust recipe that is too good not to share. This recipe is adaptable to any type of pie that you prefer.
Savory? Omit the sweetener and add sea salt and herbs if you want an extra antioxidant kick!
Sweet? Add a sprinkle of cinnamon to spice it up.
Almond Flour Pie Crust
Ingredients:
1 ½ Cups Almond Meal or Almond Flour
3 Tbsp Stevia or Xylitol
3 Tbsp Organic Grass-Fed Butter, Melted (Ghee or Coconut Oil make great subs)
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350.
2. Melt the butter.
3. Mix the melted butter with the almond meal and sweetener (if using).
4. Pat into a glass or unglazed stoneware pie plate with your fingertips.
5. Bake for 8 – 10 minutes. Be careful not to let the crust get brown.
6. Remove from oven and cool.
When using this pie crust with your favorite pie recipe, be sure to bake as instructed above first THEN fill with your pie filling and bake again. This pie crust is a simple staple to keep handy year year-round.
