Sun Screen, Iced Tea and a Cold Shower – Tips for a Summer of Wellness
The beginning of Summer is upon us and we wanted to share some tips for health, well-being, and how to have fun in the sun! Let’s start with sunscreen.
Although some sun exposure is good for you (vitamin D), we do want to protect ourselves from the sun’s harmful rays, but do you know what’s in mainstream sunscreen? You don’t want to know!
It’s poison, and chemicals and leads to high levels of toxicity in the body. Click here for the video to hear about our favorite and effective go-to SUNSCREEN brands.
It isn’t summer unless we’ve got plenty of iced tea and because Health for a Purpose encourages and supports a Fasting/Feasting Keto lifestyle, a great one to have in your cupboard is Pique Fasting Tea.
Not only does it support the body while fasting, but it’s also packed with immune-supportive antioxidants that armor up your best defense: Immunity! Of course, it’s delicious, too!
Pique Tea is also made with attention to ingredients and quality…this means NO heavy metals, pesticides, and other contaminants that hide in traditional tea bags. Plus, their line of teas includes ones that support gut health and a calm and peaceful mindset, the perfect drink after a summer workout!
Next up: A Nice Cold Shower
So, even though I hate it, after my workout, I take a really cold shower! Why??? I’ll tell you why and WHY we should ALL be taking one.
You see, cold water changes the organisms that live on our skin. All these organisms on the outside support the microbiome by communicating with the organisms IN your body….your stomach and your gut. 80% of your immune system comes from your gut.
Taking a cold shower provides a thermal shock that changes your microbiome and boosts your immune system. If you click on a nice cold shower’ above, you’ll get to watch my process and I encourage YOU to adopt this easy bio hack into your daily routine.
Honestly, if you keep up with it you get used to it and it gets easier and easier…until winter! But, that’s when we need our immunity most, so start now…
One way to begin is to take a regular shower and then slowly turn the water cooler and cooler; building up to completely cold over a span of time that you feel comfortable with. If I can do it, you can do it so give it a try. Happy summer!
